Honda Goldwing Motorcycle

Almost immediately upon its release in the mid-1970s, the Honda Goldwing motorcycle became the most popular cruiser bike in the world. It was among the first Japanese bikes available with a fuel pump, shaft drive, under-engine transmission and water-cooling. Today, you can be almost certain that the well-dressed and silver-templed rider on the highway is cruising along comfortably on a Honda Goldwing. However, motorcycle enthusiasts of all ages who may have once scorned these bikes that sometimes resemble recliner chairs more than motorbikes, should give the Goldwing and its little sister, the Silverwing (that has been recently retooled as a “super scooter”) another look. Under all those accessories is a very serious touring bike.

And what what a lot of accessories there are! The Honda Goldwing motorcycle is nothing if not adaptable. Until the 1980s, these touring bikes actually came from the factory without the luggage racks, hard saddle bags and massive fairing that they have since become well-known for. Today, production models come with a reverse gear, anti-lock brakes and an airbag. In addition to the factory mods, there are thousands of after-market parts and accessories that you can adapt a Goldwing to your liking with. Indeed, there are now so many accessories for the Goldwing that you need a website like motoyard.com to help you keep track of them all.

One of the trademarks of the production model Goldwing is the extraordinarily quiet operation. For a bike that ranges from 1,000 to 1,800cc, this is no mean feat. However, it is one that some owners are desperate to alter by putting after-market exhaust. Either way, Honda Goldwing motorcycles have a very smooth ride, with less vibration than most bikes of similar size.
