Suzuki Gsxr 600

When the larger sport bike the GSXR-1000 was retooled in the mid- 'aughts, engineers were intent upon taking their improvements to the mid-weight and displacement Suzuki GSXR-600. When the new version of this long-time favorite sport-bike was unveiled in 2006, it was to great fanfare among aficionados of the GSXR-series. If press about this new bike is to be believed, it seems a debt of gratitude is due the engineers at Suzuki for increasing the handling capability of this bike as well as the usefulness and scope of the power band.

As before, the power to weight ratio is particularly high, having increased the aerodynamics of the design once again. Perhaps of even more interest to the beginning or experienced rider is the increase in the responsiveness of the throttle. In an effort to make the Suzuki GSXR-600 the fastest and most popular racing bike at this displacement, it has been optimized for track conditions. As such, it is not a particularly good off-road bike.

Regardless, the racing credentials and specs of the Suzuki GSXR-600 are impressive. It is a water-cooled 4-cylinder, 4-stroke cycle 600cc engine with fuel injection and dual overhead cams. Though a very high performance bike that runs quite hot (red line is well above 11,000 RPM), the Suzuki GSXR-600 is also particularly reliable, in both its previous and current incarnations. Parts and accessories for all models of Suzuki GSXR-600 can be easily found with online auction sites such as motoyard.com – the only auction site dedicated to motor-sports alone.
