Most modern motorcycles use pneumatic tires. Some off road motorcycles use tires filled with a special mousse to prevent punctures. Different motorcycle tires are designed for different applications. For example dirt bike tires used deep thread for better grip on loose dirt. Touring tires are designed to last longer, but don’t offer as good of a grip as performance tires. Sport / performance tires provide the best grip, but will probably last less then 1000 miles. Sport tires are made to operate at higher temperatures. Their use on the street might not be safe, as the tires will not reach their optimal temperature. Major tire manufacturers include Dunlop, Michelin, Pirelli, Metzeler and Bridgestone.
