Our track day is organized in to 3 riding groups with 20 minute sessions. We do
not oversell our events, so there will be plenty of room on the track for everyone.
You should sign up for what you feel would be the most comfortable group for you.
If you are not sure, it's safer to sign up for a slower group. If you feel that
you can move up, just ask one of our staff and we'll follow you around to see how
you do. Remember, the less incidents, the more track time everyone will get.
In order to ride the track you need to make sure your motorcycle and safety gear meet the minimum requirements.
The requirements are not very complicated, most sport bikes are ready for the track, with minimal amount of preparation.
All these requirements are in place to ensure everyone has a fun and safe track day.
- Throttle must be self closing.
- All bodywork must be mounted securely (safety wiring not necessary).
- Chain must be adjusted properly. Functional kill switch on one of the handlebars.
- Tires with half or more tread life remaining.
- All lights must be taped over (ie, head/tail lights and signals).
- Both mirrors must be removed or taped over. Coolant does not need to be changed,
but system needs to be free of leaks.
- Bike must NOT leak fluid of any kind. Both front and rear brakes must be operational.
- License plate preferably removed, or mounted securely and taped over.
- Oil filter wire-tie (this is not required, but highly recommended) It’s a good idea
to check the snugness of your drain pan bolt and oil filter.
- Full face DOT/Snell approved helmet not older than 5 years (a flip-up helmet is
not a full-face helmet).
- Leather/motorcycle boots that extend above the ankle.
- Full-finger motorcycle gloves, preferably extending past the wrist.
- One piece or two piece leathers recommended 2 piece leathers shold zip together.
One/two piece Cordura or synthetic/heavy duty nylon riding suits are acceptable. Lightweight mesh suites are not appropriate.
- Back protector highly recommended.
At the beginning of each track day a rider’s meeting will be held. This meeting
is mandatory for every track day participant where we cover on/off track etiquette,
flags, safety procedures and other track-side services provided throughout the day.
In addition, any unusual or unique track conditions will be brought to everyones
attention during this meeting.
- Your driver license or identification card, so we can verify your identity.
- Current Health Insurance, if you have it. It is helpful to have a copy on hand,
just in case. We don't provide health insurance.
- Bike Key - you'll be surprised how many people have to hotwire their bike or go
home.
- Gas (VP Racing Fuel) is usually available for sale at Willow Springs. Bring your
own gas if you want to save some money - race fuel is pricey.
- Chairs and canopy. It is nice to have a place to sit, and even nicer to have a little
shade to sit under when you are not on the track. If you don't have a canopy, lots
of folks do.... so make some friends at the track.
- Bring Water! Dehydration is a rider's worst enemy! We will provide FREE drinks throughout
the day, but if we run out, you are responsible for keeping yourself hydrated!
- Change of clothes for when you are finished riding. You don't want to drive home
in the same sweaty stuff you've been riding in all day.
- Bring a friend, in case you need them to drive you back.
Most Motoyard.com Track Days are held at Willow Springs Motorsports Park in Rosamond, CA
- Willow Springs 2.5 mile road course is a fast track and it might
be intimidating at first. So take it easy and do a few laps at a slow pace until
you get comfortable. Remember, this is not a race. Willow Springs has 9 corners,
more rights than lefts, so watch the right side of your tires. Take a look at the
circuit diagram of Willow Spring 2.5 mile road course.
- Streets of Willow Springs is a fun and technical track. The track
is 1.8 miles long, and a great place to work on your technical skills and hard braking.
It has a fun "bowl" before you hit the straight. Lots of tight turns and a few elevation
changes to keep you busy. Remember, this is not a race. Take a look at the circuit diagram of the Streets of Willow
Springs.
